Die Python User Group Köln, das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. und der Python Software Verband e.V., richten vom 14. bis 19. Oktober 2013 die dritte deutsche Python-Konferenz in Köln aus.
Mit der Konferenz möchten wir die deutschsprachige Python-Community weiter vernetzen und wachsen lassen. Das Programm mit Vorträgen und Tutorials wird allen Python-Interessierten viel Neues bringen. Durch ein BarCamp und Sprints werden wir genug Raum für Diskussionen und gemeinsames Weiterentwickeln von Projekten bieten.
Die PyCon DE in Köln wird eine familienfreundliche Konferenz sein. Wir werden eine Kinderbetreuung anbieten. Diese wird auch dann einen sorgenfreien und unbeschwerten Besuch der Konferenz erlauben, wenn Sie Kinder haben und diese mitbringen möchten.
Einladung zum Einreichen von Vortragsvorschlägen
Die Konferenz lebt von Ihren Vorträgen zu spannenden, neuen oder etablierten Themen aus der Python-Welt oder anderen Bereichen der Softwareentwicklung. Sie können Themen aus der Programmiertechnik sowie Anwendungsbeispiele oder Erfolgsgeschichten einreichen.

Kivy is an open source framework for developing apps for natural user interfaces such as touch screens and multi-touch displays. The Kivy framework is platform independent. Implementations exist for Android, iOS, Linux, Mac OS-X, and Windows. The programming language Python is used to develop apps based on Kivy. Since Kivy sits on top of OpenGL, it is very well suited for graphics applications such as games or information displays. Kivy can be used both to develop prototypes as well as products that are available through the usual app stores.
In this talk you will learn all the basics about the Kivy framework including live demonstrations of some Kivy-based apps. We will also show how you can package Kivy-based apps to distribute via app stores. Some examples for real-world apps shows you how we are using Kivy to develop prototypes and products for health, medicine and biology. Of course, you learn about benefits and limitations of using Kivy for app development.

The Internet of Things is about small devices and sensors that are connected through networks. Typical sensors could be weather sensors or medical devices. The Internet of Things is gaining momentum with the availability of cheap small computer devices, such as Raspberry Pi or Arduino. Most devices have limited computing power. And often they are used with limited network bandwidth. Therefore, to connect (many) devices and exchange data requires extremely lightweight protocols and implementations.
